I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

Did you receive it yet? Is it a good fit and do you still have access to all of the buttons and ports?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks.

Ran real-life battery test today.
Full brightness, full audio, wifi, navigation program + Spider Player playing MP3 files at random consistently.
~ 3 hours.
Not bad in my book.

I just scored one of the $149 Win 7 ready tablets. I've been running check4change with Firefox for several days. I got alerted yesterday afternoon and added it to my cart, but when I went to hit submit, it was already gone. Today, however, I guess I was a little bit faster and a little lucky.

Just opened box and very happy even with the OOB Andriod - Already connected to CNN, Youtube, Kindle and Amazon Cloud Player.

Sound, Cameras OK. Haven't tested charge/charging yet. Only complaint so far is it is a bit on the bulky side. But for $158, well worth it. Keeping it.

I think I may be out on this one. Good device but I'm finding less and less of a use for it.

Giving SD'ers a crack at this one to buy for what I paid for + shipping instead of shipping it back to Viewsonic. Will come pre-installed with Windows 8 if you like. PM me!

Sold! to bagira.

OMG. Fedex just delivered the box to me and when I opened it there is no tablet in it. Inside the cardboard box was the viewsonic box that was opened. I mean there was no cushion or anything and half of the viewsonic box was on one end of the cardboard box and half on the other end. The charger and cable are there along with the red cd sleeve and user manual and purple sheet of paer. NO TABLET. WTF???

EDIT: The viewsonic seals on each end of the box were obviously cut and the 2 viewsonic round seals taped over the original seals are no longer sticking and the box was wide opened.

That really sucks man. I bought 4 of these guys, and every single one of them had the seals cut. The wrench sticker on the units are torn too. They're obviously refurbs. Not sure I read that when purchasing.

I received it yesterday, installed Win 8 with no issues. Wireless works after SDIO patch, dual boot also works. Mine was obviously refurbished, the seal on the case was torn but no other sign of usage.

I wanted to try out the Metro interface on a touchscreen unit. While it works smoothly I prefer Android on my Touchpad. This unit's bottleneck is the weak CPU. While running Win update, even browsing the net was a slow.

I was using it for almost five hours with wifi in balanced power mode so battery life is excellent I think. One problem, I wasn't able to easily set Windows as the default op. system in GRUB, so I have to use the home and + keys to select Win at startup.

On phone with Viewsonic now and they are escalating the case, whatever that means. I inspected the box and there is only 1 strip of tape which leads me to believe that the tablet was never in the box when it left Viewsonic otherwise if someone stole it I would think they have to reseal the box then I would see second strip of tape. This sucks. Was hoping to put W7 on it and play with it.
