I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

I didn't exactly expect the ViewPad 10pi to be able to run the Angry Birds Star Wars app perfectly, but I expected a little bit better than this (see the attached screenshot). Several game apps I've tried are similar to this. Has anyone found any game apps that perform smoothly and without glitches?

I called it in last Sunday and they sent me a shipping label to send in the defect and told me they were going to send out a replacement. Now I'm waiting for the replacement.
Oh, I see. Thanks. I actually talked to them about a possible replacement also due to the top middle screen sensitivity issue, and they said that they could definitely still replace the product because they were the manufacturer, and although it was out of stock, it had not been discontinued. So that's good news then.

Tatiana et al,

Finally got a working car charger.

That's how:

On ebay there is a seller selling car chargers "for Viewsonic 10pi".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/370708749...1497.l2649

Guess what, that adapter does not work on our Viewsonics.

However, after long negotiations. extra cable sent and wonderful question from the seller: "Are you sure you have Viewsonic 10pi?" Smilie the same seller sent to me 19V 1A 40W adapter. This one does work. So contact them before bying, specify what you need. Good luck!

Overall, I have spent $18 on this stuff. You should spend no more than $11 using the info I have provided.

UPDATE: Car charger had stopped working. Ignore all the above.
Thank you. Smilie I appreciate all the legwork you've done for this. If you find anything else, please share. I'm not very good with keeping up with this thread, but I do try to catch up every few days at least.

Oh, you are more than welcome Smilie
Actually I just tried it again and it works - again.
Might be overheating issue.

Mine also has the same issue, and some others have reported as well. I think its pretty safe to say that all of them have this issue unless someones works perfect.

Yes, I think so, too. That's basically why it was only a "possible" return. I mostly just wanted to see what they said about it, but when they did not indicate that they could assure me of getting one without the problem, I decided against it. I'm sure the next one would have the same issue.

However, I do think it is good to let them know about these things, and I hope others on this thread will consider doing the same. Who knows, maybe it's a firmware problem that can be fixed with an update. At the very least, if we all tell them about it it will help their quality control standards for the next batch to be released.

If anyone is interested, Amazon has the rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) Leather Case Cover ViewSonic [amazon.com] for $5.49. I think this is really good considering it's listed for $40 on Overstock and the cheapest I could find it elsewhere is $18 from one of those Asian importers on Ebay.

It says it's for their gTablet, but according to the gTablet specs [viewsonic.com], it is exactly the same size as our little guy. I measured mine.

It doesn't have a keyboard, but it is a nice leather case nonetheless. I think this one is actually genuine leather. At least, most other rooCases that do not say "vegan leather" are.

Yep. We're in the same boat then. It's not too bad though.

Yes, I can live with this.

Tatiana, 19V car adapter works for the last several hours. You might consider this unless you have a better options.

Yes, I think I will. I don't expect to be using it too much on the road, so for my purposes it doesn't have to be ultra-dependable. However, I will be taking a long car trip in two weeks and I would like to be able to use it then. I think as long as it gives me a charge some of the time it will be okay. Smilie

It was working pretty well for the last couple of days. Then tonight I can't get the WiFi to work in W7. Nothing has changed, yet it won't work. It's not the hardware, still works fine in Android.

Yep. Mine did as well until last night. Turns out it's not the network driver but the USB SD controller D driver that's gone kaput. Took out the SD card as well.
