i got the jets mc and if i spend $500 for ea. mo for the next 3 mo. i get $200. is it worth it to apply for the visa card too?

Yes they did that to my wife, they gave her the mastercard deal not the visa and she has very good credit

Has anyone successfully done the NFL offer twice (open card - get offer, close card - get 2nd offer)? It says otherwise but I'm wondering if anyone has tried to apply a second time after receiving the points and closing their account and then applying again

You must qualify for a Visa Signature card. If you don't qualify Barclays might offer you a Platinum card with lower tier rewards.

No, they don't "offer" you a lower tier reward, they just sign you up for a lower tier reward. That's what these creeps did to a friend with 800 credit.

If you apply for this, just be prepared to be downgraded automatically and receive a much lower reward. It's in the fine print. Once they have your SS# and credit info, they are going to sign you up for the card of their choice, just don't assume you are guaranteed to get the $400 promo.

See what I mean? They dangle the $400 carrot and then sign you up for a completely different card you really didn't want and you only received a $100 bonus. It's all perfectly legal because they buried it in the fine print.

Barclays is notorious for that. They also manage the US Airways cards. They are the worst credit card company IMHO
