Please don't buy this for your kitties, or at least give them very little.
Primary ingredients (in order of quantity by weight in the food): Chicken By-Product Meal: Ground waste parts of chicken (feet/heads/etc) that is a poor source of protein with too high an ash content, and since its labeled "by-product meal" can by FDA rules include 4-D animals (dead/dying/diseased) Ground Corn: Cats are carnivores and corn is too high in carbohydrates for their digestive system. Corn is also the number one alergen for cats, followed only by wheat. Animal Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols): Nothing wrong with fat, but the preservatives aren't great Rice: Purely a filler, no nutritional value to the cat Dried Meat by-Products: Similar to the other by-products, except its whatever random meat they find, as its not even defined. Wheat Flour: Common allergen for cats. Corn Gluten Meal: Better than plain corn, but still doesn't have all the amino acids like meat... its a cheap protein substitue. Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Salt, Titanium Dioxide Color: Preservatives and artificial flavors can upset sensitive kitties tummies, and lead to diarrhea. |

And cliffs notes when reading cat food ingredients:
Pay attention to the first four ingredients, that's what most of the food is made up of. Avoid unnamed meats, avoid anything that say "by-product", avoid corn and wheat, and if there is rice its better if its third or fourth and brown rice rather than brewers rice (which is another name for byproduct rice). Also, make sure that treats account for no more than 5-10% max of the cat's intake calories, and this may be much less than you think. Dental problems are also the number one disease found in domestic cats, so I would strongly encourage that any treats given be dental treats. There are good crunchy tartar control treats that can help prevent dental problems. Treats like Greenies for Cats are a good idea for cats on an all wet-food diet, this works purely by mechanical action, but there are others that are good that contain chlorophyll or polyphosphates. PS: I luv cats, I luv every kind of cat, and I want them and I want them in a basket and with little bow ties I want them to be on a rainbow... I came here for the cat treats, I stayed for the comments.
I guess you could make an argument for shelf life? Also from the ingredient list, no animals were killed explicitly for making these treats, it would seem that only the waste products from other quality operations were used
Please start brain before putting mouth in gear
