This is incorrect, a 3.5" drive is not a notebook internal drive, that is 2.5". The drive at MC is retail box version of same drive as thread topic, newegg also sells it but the price is higher than this OEM drive currently

Hmmm, care to explain why this drive has half the access time as the supposed Retail model, MC advertises that one as OEM so it is not a boxed retail drive

And the folks at Toshiba may know something about their own product [toshiba.com], what do you think?

They must not as there are not currently any 2TB 7200 RPM notebook drives in existence, mistakes on manufacturer product pages is common.

This drive does not have half the access time either, you are comparing average seek time to average access time, these are not the same.

Think you're mistaken no mention of retail on Newegg and 14ms seek would be abysmal for modern desktop HDDs. Not to mention the specs on the data sheet just don't mesh for something as basic as bare drive vs retail pkg. and only one mention of the supposed retail drive, you'd think it'd be the other way around if that were the case.

Btw your link points to an irrelevant comparison involving enterprise drives which the MC clearly isn't.

Depends who you talk to, these are known to be Hitachi based drives - the 1TB version is a rebadged 7K1000.D which is known to be a very fast 1 platter drive, often on sale at Tiger.
