TomTom Start 50M 5" GPS with Lifetime Map Updates $60 + Free In-Store Pick Up

What's the difference between the START 50M and START 55M? I'm having trouble finding detailed differences. The TomTom site doesn't even have the 50M listed as a product.

I picked this up a few weeks back at the same price. I've never used one before. TomTom is a Dutch company and is Europe's leading GPS supplier. A French friend visiting help me learn it. So far, it is great. I bought a Garmin before Christmas from Walmart but returned it after learning it did not have lifetime maps. This was even cheaper with lifetime maps.

Price mistake by merchant, SDers with "something for nothing" mentality jump on it and place orders by the dozens, merchant then cancels orders, SDers with plenty of free time start filing complaints with BBB, FTC, Consumer Affairs, The Consumerist etc and start crying and flooding their neighborhood with alligator tears like how they we cheated out of something that was their god given right by this merchant, other SD lambs join them in support and add their own sappy story to the mix, they all hug and console each other praising capitalism and their right to something for nothing and how such mentality has made this country so great, they hold hands and celebrate their unreasonable greed in unison, then over time they disperse after flooding that particular SD forum with tons of cry-me-a-river comments. The episode then goes down in SD history as brutal, scarring experience to these SDers, they all promise to never deal with the merchant again, and then get ready to waste time, energy, resources on some other non-existent deal.

i helped a neighbor install/update and between downloading/installing the map update it took 3 hours, so not your ISP.

yes, the fourth reviewer says that they find the spoken directions to be loud and clear.

If you have a smart phone get WAZE. It is free and better than any GPS I've used so far except there is no lane guide. Always updated and fantastic

My other TomTom TM model I get 4 free Map Updates a year as well as the Share Maps and Custom downloads (like all the updated Costco's and CVS's and BofA ATM's) as many times as I want to plug the GPS into the computer a year. I never heard of paying for maps on the M models. The T stands for Lifetime Traffic and the M stands for Lifetime Maps.
