[1/3/13, 10:14a] I initially posted this deal under the impression that Amazon alone had reduced the price of the Sony NEX-6L/B to $898.00 but then realized, from member feedback, that was possibly the new starting price point in general. I did some research and found out that the reduced price is a manufacturer-induced promotion through March 2, 2013. It depends if you want an extra two stops less noise, shallower depth of field ability, a viewfinder, and manual controls. The PZ lens is also not a very good lens optically and is not included in the $300 kits. I am not saying that 4/3ds are not great values these days, but it depends what you want.

$900 is the new price, but these bundles come with maybe $60-80 in extras for the same price.

Those "1/3 the price" M43 cameras don't come close to the IQ of the NEX. The M43 camera that does is the OMD. That is most definitely not "1/3 the price".

Yeah, I made the mistake of assuming it was a "deal" when the price drop occurred (sorry). I figured I could at least point potential buyers in the right direction to get the most out of his/her purchase.

Not at all. Granted the G3/G5 are head and shoulders above the 1st gen M43 cameras, which are borderline unusable now. Compared to the NEX, they aren't even close. They don't even compare well against the original NEX camera.

Panasonic G3 scores 56.
NEX 3(original nex) scores 68.
NEX 6 scores 78.
Canon 5D MK III 81.

Like I said, the only M43 cameras that can go toe to toe with a NEX are the likes of the OMD, the ones with a Sony sensor, with a score of 71.

Dxomark is really not a valid way to say one camera is much better than another. There is a lot more to it than that.

My argument is: for those who are interested in video, what to do if that feature will be in the next NEX? Spend another $1000? And if I'm not interested in video, for the money I'd rather go for a DSLR as the NEX or M43 are still not pocketable, Panasonic's at least cost so little to own a point.
