You'll like the Asus, fun thing about it is you can get the dock and be able to connect a flashdrive to it via usb port. When we got the tablet it was the only one with usb ports, a major selling point for someone in school who needs to be able to easily port files from one computer to tablet to laptop, etc. Good speed, nice system, reliable thus far..
Thank you. Good to know. I appreciate the input. I was a bit hesitant about the 1GB vs 2GB RAM difference.
Windows 8 64-bit
Technical details: 3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i5 processor; 14" display; 4GB memory; 500GB hard drive; 32GB solid state drive
Special features: Bluetooth; HDMI output
Note: DVD/CD drive not included
It's a pretty sweet laptop. If I'm not mistaken, the SSD is mSATA, so you can upgrade the cache medium. It is also possible to repurpose the mSATA as a boot drive.
It's realistic battery life is between 5 and 9 hours; and build quality is very good.
Overall, it's a great balance of hardware and build quality..
It's a gamble, but personally, I'd hold out until the 8th for the extra 5% discount
I got the Asus X501a[bestbuy.com]. No one mentioned in the thread yet so I'm just looking for some opinion (if it was a good buy or not)...
I thought it was a better deal than the $339 before-coupon Toshiba[bestbuy.com]: larger hard drive, faster processor, a USB 3.0 port, lighter in weight, and I rarely use CD's anymore so wouldn't miss the optical drive that the Asus lacks.
Code does not appear to work on regular best buy site. The price would be $359.99 with the code if someone has the inclination to call and try to argue with the customer service reap about it. I tend to not have luck arguing for discounts--I'm told I don't speak stupid, the language of customer service reps--so won't try.. I'll haunt bestbuy.com and the local store, eventually an i5 will go enough under $400 for me to bite..
Picked up the toshiba last night before it goes OOS. The extra 5% isn't worth this laptop deal slipping through the cracks as it might already be too late. The video card is great. Just needs upgrading on the ram!
Picked up one of these[bestbuy.com] adapters for a little over $14 shipped. Pretty phenomenal deal if you ask me, now I won't have to go behind my bed to unplug my adapter every time I go to Uni with my laptop. Just leave one in the backpack and one at the house.
