I am really torn on to do this or not! Help!
I own a Nikon D3000 with kit lens and 50mm f 1.8 lens. The biggest reasons for me to upgrade is the canon will be a lot easier to use for my wife mainly because our d3000 doesn't have live view and the canon seems to be easier to use versus our Nikon. This Canon also seems to have a focus motor in the body. Our Canon does not. We also don't find ourselves using the 50mm prime lens much. Also, the 9 cross point focus points on the canon vs nikon having only 1 seems to make a difference. CMOS in Canon vs CCD in Nikon too. It looks like I can net $325 -$400 selling my Nikon gear. All that being said, Is it worth me upgrading from my Nikon to the Canon for the about $350 it will cost me long run? Here is a comparison of Nikon 3000 and Canon T4i - http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon...ikon_D3000 Thanks in advance for all advice and rep will be given. |

For someone who knows pretty much nothing about photography, how does this compare to the Sony a57 and the Panasonic GH3? I see the GH3 always getting rave reviews but the T4i always seems to be on sale the most often and to my untrained eyes, appears to provide the most bang for your buck. As a novice looking to learn, which of the above 3 would be best?

I have the T4i and it's a great camera.
If you plan to do any video at all, you will definitely benefit from the 18-135stm lens. It's quiet and sharp with wonderful output. If I were buying into this deal, I would sell the 18-55 lens. Keep the 55-250mm lens (it's actually pretty good). And then do what you can to find a good deal on the Canon 17-55 2.8 IS lens. If you ONLY had the 17-55 2.8 and the 55-250 (that comes with this kit), you would have a really good kit for general purposes. Last edited by DocMo; 02-03-2013 at 01:22 PM.. After you shoot, the first thing you should do is download your pictures onto your PC. My workflow consists of importing my pictures onto a hard drive and then automatically making a backup copy on an external drive. Then, when I insert my SD card back into the camera, I immediately format the card in camera. I learned this from folks that would have hundreds of pictures on a 32 or 64gb card and then have something happen to the card. Not cool. With smaller cards, I have to discipline myself to import and backup. If a card ever goes bad, or if I ever lose one, it minimizes the damage. If I'm on vacation, I'll just DL to my laptop daily, or take extra cards if I don't want to bring the laptop. There's also special drives just for backing up photos for those that really get into it. |
