Agree SX50 seems to be much better camera. This Sx500 uses old tech, definitely not current, but pretty good price. If you stay outdoors, this would be a good travel zoom.

i wouldnt say so, I redeemed 4 off the united redemption page (on slickdeals a few months ago) with airline points and checked all of them for the best quality to keep one to replace my powershot 110 from 2 years ago. the aF on this camera sx500is is annoying in low/regular light settings. i have bright studio lights in my dorm kitchen and it would not pick up the nutrition label on my cereal box 10 feet away. also when trying to get upclose macros of other cameras (lol using the product to sell itself) the pq was too grainy for my liking. I am by no means a professional photographer so take my notes with a grain of salt

forgot to mention. i didnt like these int he end and flipped them all on ebay for 250 each, 200 after fees. so i guess this is a good "price" but not necessarily the best product

this is not a camera that will do fine in low light....in fact it would be horrible. Size of sensor is just too small among other things. It's like cheap Point & Shoot in over sized body.

I owned the S3IS a few years ago and was very happy with its performance, this is a much more capable camera and most people will be perfectly happy with it. Its not an slr but it is the best (or at least in the top 3) point and shoot out there. Not everyone needs or wants the complexity and capability of an slr, if you just want an excellent, feature packed point and shoot jump on this you'll be happy for years.

Comparing this to an sx50hs is pretty far off.. I Think this is closer to the sx30is which was replaced by the sx40hs (I have both the 30 & the 40) and now the 40 has been replaced by the sx50 (which the wife wont let me buy yet).

i see price on sears 234.xx ? how did you guys get $180 ?
