Do you really need that much pixels in a tablet? My 22' is only 1050

I'll consider buying when/if they list refurbished ones for 30% off the normal price, as they did with the first gen Kindle Fire last March ($199 down to $139).

1920x1200 Res in 8.9 inch tablet!!! can someone tell me how to pour those pixels from this tablet to my monitor plz?

You can easily unlock it if you want but to be honest most people that buy a Kindle are perfectly happy with the Amazon environment. It has everything they'll ever want or need.

I've had both the Fire 7" HD and the 8.9" HD. I just returned the 8.9 recently. Movies are great on the 8.9". Having the HDMI is really a fun feature to play around with, but apps don't fill the whole HDTV screen(kind of small, some more than others).

I thought the 7" actually sounded better than the 8.9" somehow. I thought the 8.9 was too heavy. Really need to always prop it up on something(especially for reading), but maybe that's just me. I also found it awkward to play certain games on the 8.9 like the ones where you use two d-pads and then have to also touch the screen for certain things due to the fact that the device is so long when held in landscape mode. With the 7" you can just reach out your finger but on the 8.9 you have to let go of one end to reach the middle of the screen. My parents liked the large screen because everything was bigger and easier to see.

My prediction is that we will be seeing refurbished ones on sale pretty soon. I don't think the 8.9 sold that well or if it did there were lots of returns for various reasons. I had to send my first 8.9 HD back because the screen had a 2 inch band of lighter color than the rest of the screen. Replacement one was fine.

I don't see why not, especially since I stream them on just a Droid X2. If that can do it, any decent tablet should be able to.

I won't buy this for the same reason I'd never consider an ipad. I'm probably old school for caring about this, but to me the lack of a micro SD card slot is unforgivable. I don't always go places that have free Wi-Fi. I'm not paying the extra for a 4G one, and I wouldn't pay for the service anyway. I love loading my $15 32GB micro SD full of Movies, Shows, music and other media. What a cheap corner to cut.

Keep dreaming. These things only started shipping back in November. Won't hear about a new release until September or so.

Not sure stock android is set to detect, read, or write to SD cards. At least it wasn't back with 2.x and 3.x. And Amazon's OS is based off of Android, so that limitation is passed over. And I'm sure unlocking that ability isn't high on their to-do list. Cost of hardware would go up to add the cardreader port, and they'd complain that that access could lead to security issues.

Apple products lack that capability, so obviously Google doesn't feel pressured to push the envelope either. Phone/tablet manufacturers can continue to charge premiums for their soldered memory.
