This camera is so 'meh'. Photo quality is good, but the battery life has a lot to be desired, and it only takes MicroSD cards. I got one a Canon 520 (same sensor, optics, battery, just add touchscreen) at Target clearance a while ago and returned it within a week. Even at this price I'm not really impressed.

How does the Elph 5xx HS series compare with the Elph 1xx series & the S1xx series? What are the differences? I know the S1xx series has lots more manual controls & a larger sensor.

This is still a horrible camera. You can look up the last couple threads to read why, but the gist is that Canon cropped the sensor to achieve the 12x zoom. Picture quality is well below average even among compact point-and-shoots.

"28mm Wide-Angle Lens, 1/3" CMOS Sensor" And these days 28mm is not too "wide-angle". I assume the handling/af is just as slow as the rest of canon's cameras? |
