I've got the GF3, it's a good camera but he flash is super weak if you are thinking you'll use it with that ability. If this is the power-zoom lens, definitely sell that and pick up either the original 14-42 or just go for the 20mm and be happy.

If size is not a concern, I'd rather get the G3 kit for $300 from BH (not sure if they have it at tihs price anymore). It's a bit bigger but much more featured. They also have the G3 body for $250 and a used body for $200. Here's the size comparison

I had this camera and returned it.
If you want interchangeable lenses then why do you want a "dumbed down" body without viewfinder or hot shoe? If I want compact then I also want pocketable like RX100 or nearly pocketable like LX7. I also didn't like the touch screen. Touchscreens are OK for phones but not for cameras. I don't want a fingerprint smeared screen on a camera!! I think this camera fits a real strange niche market. |

Panasonic and Olympus lenses are interchangeable since they are both m4/3 (though Panasonic uses lense stabilization while Olympus uses body stabilization, IIRC). You can buy other lenses for any of these systems and use an adapter but you won't be able to use things like auto-focus and power zoom on them. |

If the only reason you're withholding a purchase of a good deal is 5% negative feedback, it's just silly. I mean you have every right to, but it's silly. |

Not to kill the party, but I have owned 2 versions of the GF- series cameras which I bought thinking they are convenient over SLR and pocketable etc, but I realized I have been fooling myself . Neither they are pocketable nor convenient. I would rather carry a SLR which I have or get a PS like RX100. Finally got a RX100 and happy.

G3 has the advantage of Viewfinder additionally. But I'll wait to see a good deal on GH3 panny. |

I have no doubt that these would product excellent image quality, but you have the negatives of a smaller sensor, while still not being pocketable. Having said all that, this is a good price, and m43 IMO is probably the dominant mirrorless standard at this point. |

I own a Nikon D7000 and a range of lenses, ballhead, L- plate etc. I was looking for a alternate (to SLR ) and a pocketable camera to carry with me. So bought GF2 way back when released and paid hefty $600-ish. Then for the GH1 as well. However, I saw little use of the babies as I would still carry a big bag with me always which is a little smaller than my 2-lens, 1 flash SLR bag. So finally took the plunge with RX100 3 months back. Other negative with these cameras and lenses is, the little to no re-sale values. If you see the way the price of these cameras and lenses drop, they quite become a non-performing asset in no time. I could not sell my Panasonic gear. Otherwise you get good re-sale on Nikon or canon lenses. If you are looking for long term investment, then I would look elsewhere as you will slowly build a parallel MF3 equipments in addition to your SLR. |
