It might be related to couponing at the drug store chains. I can typically purchase Gillette Fusion and Schick Hydro5 refills for much less than $2 per cartridge. I typically pay up to $1.50 each. The Fusion blades are usually $1.50 for me and the Hydro5's are anywhere from $.50 -1.50. Check out the Hydro5 - I think it's better for sensitive skin if you don't need the trimmer, but they're both good products.

Where do you get the coupons. I have pretty much all of the 4-5 blade razors(Hydro5, Titanium, Fusion ProGlide, and old Mach3) and buy whichever ones refills are on sale. I have not seen coupons(haven't really looked because I did not know about them), can you give me some info on where to look for them?

I get them in the Sunday newspaper with all the other coupons. I'm guessing the Fusion and Mach3 coupons are in the once a month P&G circular. If you sign up for P&G savings emails it's possible that you can even print them out. I typically combine them when there is a sale at my local CVS. Stock up when there's a good sale and then you won't have to spend time on it for a while. Good luck!

I highly recommend switching to a safety razor. Then you can buy a 100 pack of double-edge (DE) blades for about $10.... 100 razors last a very long time. Cheap shaving and it's a good experience.

Heh. I was just about to drop into this thread to make the requisite "best deal in shaving is to ditch the cartridge" comment.

A single, high-quality blade shaves so much better than these cheap multi-blade profit gimmicks, too

FWIW, a 12-pack of disposable BIC Sensitive razors is $3 at Walmart and shaves better than the gimmicky cartridge razors. That's my opinion, of course, but the cartridges always gave me terrible razor burn. The BIC Sensitive razors (and good shave soap/cream) saved my face, and a couple years later I splurged on a nice Merkur. I'm still using it, with awesome $0.10/ea Astra blades that shave great.
