Just because it's owned by a Japanese company doesn't mean the stuff ships from Japan! Buy.com, or rather now Ratuken.com, is a marketplace where they sell & ship items themselves (from a U.S. warehouse), but vendors list and sell items as well and they ship from all over the place. Maybe your friend bought something from one of the vendors on there who ships from overseas, which Amazon and eBay both have plenty of as well. When buying something from any of those websites you need to check to see who it is sold and shipped by, and where it is shipped from. But if the item is order and shipped from Buy.com it shouldn't take any more than a week to get delivered to anywhere in the country because they ship everything from within the U.S.

If it's Japanese then it's Lah as in latte, ku as in cum laude, ten as in 10. Looking at the spelling it looks like romanji so I doubt a Japanese company went out of their way deviate from their own language.

I keep seeing that people use their xbox controllers on PCs. Excuse the question, but does this mean that I can play games like team fortress 2 on my pc WITH an xbox controller?

I'm well aware they would retain their same infrastructure. The point being is that I was under the impression during the acquisition period that critical customer facing processes has changed.. seemingly for the worse. I confirmed with my friend it was direct from buy.com, or ratuken.com if you prefer. Called customer service, which didnt help.

Curious if anyone else has had shipment issues since the transition. (yes specifically US->US)

Thumbs up. I have no choice but to buy this. My local craigslist has one going for $25. Total from Rakuten (shipped from buy.com) is totalling $31.53 here in Cali. Free Ship from 5-8 Business days. For me to drive to pick it up from the guy on craigslist as there haven't been any that is local for $25 , this is a better deal.

I actually had one issue with them a LONG time ago (before they were acquired by Rakuten), but all the orders I have placed in the last 5-7 years or so have all gone flawlessly.

P.S. See what I mean about changing the website name being a bad idea? You even typed it wrong in your reply - it's Rakuten, not Ratuken. Not trying to rag on you, just making a point of how stupid if was of them to change it from Buy.com. If you type in Ratuken.com it takes you to some random ad page which I'm sure is gong to make a killing from the misspelling, and probably an even bigger killing when Rakuten decides to buy it from them.
