Low-power thin client PC
Looking for a low-power thin client PC that will be a dedicated emulator and hooked up to my HDTV.It would be nice to have one with enough power to handle the scaling and some AA. I don't typically see thin-client PCs come across slickdeals, so would love to know where to look for a deal. |

Are you aware of the definition of a Thin Client [wikipedia.org]? It sounds like you want an actual computer (HTPC).
One of the AMD APU booksize PCs [newegg.com] would probably be a good machine for this purpose. Foxconn systems go on sale occasionally. |

You can't change the motherboard or CPU in these, but you get to add your own HDD/SSD and memory and if you really want to, you can swap the WiFi card although it's underneath the motherboard so is not as easy to access. "booksize" "foxconn" You might not need to do that since it looks like newegg put the Foxconn nt-A3500 [newegg.com] back on sale for $130. The best deal I've seen for these was $110 AR with a free SSD. I don't know if a deal like that will come around again. This is a barebones system so it will require a 2.5" HDD/SSD and a single stick of 204-pin DDR3 laptop memory as well as an operating system. Last edited by dhc014; 02-05-2013 at 06:30 AM.. |
