I ordered one of these to try it out. It failed. The stand is flimsy as is the antenna itself. My room-mate on the thrird floord though is using it for a couple of favorite local channels (not on her direct tv hookup)(soon changing to At&T). I really would recommend the monoprice deal (but high shipping cost).

You would get better reception using 649 pennies in a stack, probably even a pile as well.
