Then I would do the upgrade. Quad core helps with video editing. Also check your cable or try another laptop, never heard of a projector only working with one particular video card. I'm the same way, I dont game, but if I ever wanted to, I want to know that my laptop/desktop is capable of doing so. I also have like a million open tabs, I'm surprise you dont like the toshiba from staples, that one meets all your needs and is less money too.
I didn't like the fact that theToshiba didn't have a dedicated gpu, the low res screen, and I cant recall it having Bluetooth either
How big is the difference in your guy's opinion on 900p vs 1080p for a 17.3"? I know I should really just check it out myself in a store or something but ... hey I'm lazy and this is the internet.
if you're ok with 1366x768 on a 15", than you'll be fine with 900p on a 17". If you're used to higher resolutions, than you'll probably want 1080p, but you'll pay more for them. I have a 1080p 17.3" laptop.
