during the last sale some people had luck with the XPS 8500 i7s coming around for around $425 after coupon, but you gotta get lucky.

i was one the ones that got the xps i7 for 449 total including tax..great deal..processor cost 300 by itself

Samsungs are nice, but you can't build to order. Asus is nice too but build quality is iffy. |

i'm thinking about an alienware as a media center pc. first time shopping for one, can someone ballpark me on an alienware unit?
I will continue to flame on abusers and killers of deals.

Why in the world do some of those XPS 8500's come with 320 GB hard drives? What am I missing?

If I were you, I'd keep looking at lenovo and dell outlet (lenovo more so now). Keep an eye on i7s with 1/2 GB graphics. Get rid of that cheap D620 Edit: Just to add, I once saw a lenovo Y580 in outlet for 499  . I am kicking myself since for not getting it (didn't need it, or did i?)
