Blendtec Commercial Refurbished Blender

ICB3 in Black for only $175 shipped. [vminnovations.com]

Use code: ICB175

I bought one a year back and it's amazing. The biggest knock is they are used. They call them refurbed, and that counts for the motor/board/etc but not the pitcher or sound shield. My sound shield arrived crackled and crazed, the pitcher was also scuffed from use. With that said, I'm almost tempted to buy a second one just for a backup. I'm pretty sure this thing will smash atoms if given the chance.

I just wanted to thank you magnificent bastards for allowing me to part with more of my hard earned cash Wink Good thing my lady (who owns a BT, as I own a Vitamix) grab two of the wildside jars from the promotion during December.

Ill just replace the jar from jump with the wildside and this will be the new blender for the office Smilie Thanks again guys

This is 'seller' refurbished, whatever that means. Manufacturer refurbished usually means someone returned it within their 30 day return period and appear/function like new. These on the other hand have been used heavily in a commercial setting (Starbucks) for several years and Starbucks most likely got rid of them after their service contract was up. The 1 year warranty is from the seller too - meaning if your unit stops working within a year, box it up and pay to ship the 25lb junk back and they'll ship you another beat-up unit from their warehouse.

ok good point, but is there anything to be said about the fact that this is a commercial blender, and will therefore last longer than a commercial?

basically im just trying to figure out how many years i can expect out of it

and also, can anyone vouch for the usability difference of the included jar, compared with the expensive wildside jar?
ie. if im used to using a vitamix 5200 - would i be satisfied with the included jar?

This uses the same 1560W motor as the residential 'Total Blender' units. Only the base is different and there is a sound shroud included. How many years is really luck of the draw.

I've had mine (from this seller) for a little over a year now. Other than the noise (which I associate with age and gradual loss of motor lubrication) and having to buy a new BPA-free jar (the jar you get is not BPA free and I did not feel like using it given the way it looked), its still running fine. These are basically fine machines that are built to last a lifetime of residential use or several years of commercial use. I just wish I had spent my $240 (unit + new jar) towards a new blender instead.

I should also add that the residential unit will fit under most kitchen cabinets. This unit is rendered taller by both the base and sound shroud and it is likely that it will not fit.

I remember watching this video before I bought my blender last year. I'm 99% sure VMinnovation had a link to it at one point and I'm guessing this is where they sourced the product.

Very interesting watch. Thanks. It does look like this is the source for these - the packaging is almost the same as the one I received. I wonder if they grade these as all the units I see in the video look much better than mine.

Ditto. My sound shield looked like a cracked windshield. I probably could have called and complained, but the rest of the unit was great and runs great. It lives in a bottom cabinet most of the time anyway.

im trying very hard to decide between this blendtec and the vitamix 5200 at costco for 400 (w/tax)

blendtec pros

less than half the price
smaller height can fit under cabinets
sound shield makes it quiter

vitamix pros

peace of mind coming from costco - with 8year/lifetime warranty
I like the vitamix plunger better
i like the vitamix controls better
its brand new

warranty is one of the biggest factors for me. I want my blender to last at least 5-8 years
with the vitamix, i KNOW it will - but is that certainty worth more than twice the price?
couldent I just buy blendtecs within 8 years?

or does it come down to personal preference one the blender type?
what do you guys think?

hmmm i looked at their home applicianes and i didnt see any option near "blenders" have you used them before for your blender?
I bought mine off ebay and VMInnovations sent a link. You can find blenders if you dig around, too. I ultimately decided not to buy a warranty since it was in such good shape

The blender you get from this deal could be well over 10 years old. I would rather pay $80 more for a new motor.

The jar they ship with does contain bpa.
Mine came with a jar manufactured in Nov 2009; Blendtec went BPA-free in April 2009. I don't know if the jar was the original or a replacement, but given the condition of my blender, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a 2009 as well. That said, 2-3yr of Frappuccinos is some pretty good wear and tear.
