Did it say anything about it only being valid for a certain amount of time. I want to pay now and take it months later. Did you see anything to suggest that wouldn't be possible?

I wonder if the discounts vary by insurance company. Unless my CS rep is wrong, I was told I'd receive 10% off in three areas of coverage: collision, PIP (no fault), & liability. I had her repeat the information twice. For two drivers in NY, that's $280+ off over a 3-year period for me.

Definitely gonna make use of this. I actually have an appearance for a speeding ticket this Wednesday and even though I think it'll get dismissed, this will wipe out any points if I get any. And then 10% savings since I'm in NY. Great find OP, repped and TU!

Just make sure you do the class after your court appearance. The class must be completed after the points go on your record. Hoping you don't get any points though.

No, I don't see any restriction on the deadline to complete the course...which will take about 45 mins - 1 hr for each units (total of 7 units & the 8th unit is just a wrap-up.)

I just dived in...$5 for the safety driving course, which could save me 5-10% for the insurance premium. Yeah, it is much cheaper than a pack of ciggarette.

From what I know you have to complete it in 60 days

do you need to be over 50 to use this?

In April I think they are going to switch to a Nassau system and allow plea bargaining.

The good news for motorists in Suffolk County however is that Governor Cuomo has signed a law allowing Suffolk to establish its own traffic violations bureau. The law allows Suffolk County to have sole control of the administration and collections of traffic summonses within its jurisdiction and will generate millions of dollars in additional revenue for the county. The law passed with strong support in both the NY Assembly and Senate and is expected to be in effect starting April 2013.

Although much of the rules for the new Suffolk County Traffic Violations bureau have not been made public, initial reports show that the county plans on hiring six prosecutors. This is a strong indication that the new Suffolk County TVB will entertain plea bargains which will heavily favor motorists much more than the current TVB.

I just finished the AARP drivers safety course. Did anyone else from NY not have a final exam at the end of Unit 8? If so, I'm guessing the quizzes in between chapters were used in it's place.
