AARP Online Driving Course for $5 - Save $ off insurance - YMMV

Nationwide only gives discount if you are 55 and older in CA

Why is this a discount for Black History Month? Are they trying to say black drivers need this course?
Or old black drivers?

Seems you get this discount only if you are above 50, for CA Geico policyholders... Please see below from Geico website:

Convenient processing. After successful completion, the course completion number will automatically be sent to GEICO. Your policy will then be updated to reflect the discount.
In California, you may be eligible for this discount if:

You are 50 years of age or older; and
You have voluntarily completed a defensive driving course meeting the standards established by the National Safety Council (NSC).

I would recommend that people register for the course, but don't take it right away.(if this is an option)

It is true that you get a discount, however the real use of this course is that it can act as a magic wand and waive away your speeding ticket. The kicker is that you have complete a course AFTER you get the ticket.

One can only attempt this course once every 3 years.

yeah, called geico, they said Utah only offers this discount to folks 50 and up

Just got off the phone with Ameriprise Auto Insurance - they don't offer a discount for Online Driving Courses for drivers younger than 60 years of age.

This isnt about safety. It's about saving money. Pay attention.

Do I have to register the participant now? Or can I do that later from the email? I'm getting one for various family members. Can I get multiples with the same email and credit card?

no geico discount in illinois for for drivers under 50. but i did get a discount for being a penfed credit union member. woohoo lol

At least in CA, this wouldn't work for keeping the point off your record for a traffic ticket. There are separate "approved" courses for that, and you still have to pay for the ticket...it'd just keep the point off of your driving record. This AARP course is much more painful to sit through then those.
