After owning older Fujitsu tablet PCs , it's hard to find a replacement ( in terms of digitizer performance). The newer Fujitsu also has a much nicer screen ( 13.3" @1600 x 900 ). |

Thanks for your post, this makes a lot more sense now since I had been eye'ing the Surface Pro. |

Samsung makes the 830 SSD and you can't buy Samsung msata drives outright. Supposedly they are faster than anything out and are only available to the manufacturer. A 256gb msata hard drive you cost you around $200 on sale and I think the crucial m4 or the muskin drives are the only alternatives right now. For 175 more at least to me its worth it since if you planned to upgrade yourself it would cost you more. With the new configurations for the XPS 12 its $300 extra for the 256gb SSD included. |

After a little bit of research, here's the rundown for this ultrabook:
Pros: above average SSD performance (samsung) Great build-quality good quality screen (12" 1080p, good viewing angles, 400-nits brightness, Gorilla glass) Cons: kind of heavy and thick to use in tablet mode 5 hour battery life (mediocre if not below average), battery probably being raped by the 1080p display. flaky trackpad I personally won't get this just because I need at least 7+ hours of battery life for my work, but for this price it's a great deal. I don't really see how you'll use this as a tablet just because it's so thick and heavy. But I would still recommend you to wait until 2nd-gen windows 8 tablets/ultrabooks to mature, more apps and bettery battery life. |

In the past couple of days I started to shop around for a new laptop/ultrabook to replace a horribly outdated Dell 6400. This looks like a great deal but I think that I am going to push this thing to its grave while I look around. Thanks for the great, informative posts to everyone and to the OP for finding the deal.
I love SD. TU! |

I was considering this and the Yoga and decided to go with the Yoga. Heres some quick comparisions.
Pros of the XPS: 1920x1080 versus 1600x900 Better build quality no exposed keyboard in tablet mode Smaller in size Cons: Non-upgradable RAM Hard to upgrade SSD No built-in SD reader (for additional storage) No built in HDMI Same weight but smaller screen When you close or open the screen, you might push it out of position. Seeing through the cracks between the screen and the frame is distracting. |
