Actually, I think the real concern is that you NEVER own your data anymore. If they suddenly say it will now be $299.95 a month to store your data, you are screwed. Perhaps they sell your data? Perhaps they store your data on a server in a country that has laws far different from US laws, which you are now subject to?

The cloud is not cool, personal FTP and good old fashioned storage that you OWN are always the best way to go.

All that being said if you want a place to store stupid gif files and other thing you care zero about, then yup it's cool.

Someone mentioned that you can sync 2 or 3 accounts(email address) so that the storage increases ot 50 or 75 GB...can anyone tell how the syncing can be done...

Yep, the LG phone trick works fine. I have an old optimus v with a hacked rom on it, and it still worked.

Now I have 50gb of storage thats hard to use, unencrypted and not particularly secure...

Not entirely accurate....
Box encrypts data in transit (meaning when it moves to and from your PC/phone/tablet) using SSL.
Although they've been vague about it, they now claim (admit?) that they do encrypt files for personal accounts while at rest. see https://support.box.com/entries/2...ee-account

Can you tell me your use cases for using cloud storage like box.net?

Are you using it merely as a backup strategy? Seems like online backup sites like Backblaze would be sufficient.

And for syncing files across devices, DropBox is the way to go.

I have signed up for many of these free cloud storage sites because they are free but not using any of them.
