good luck with that. i found out that my current package has been upgraded from 3mbps to 20mbps for the same price.

can't upgrade online. only offers a "triple play" package with a home phone i have no use for.

chatted with multiple reps.. internet speed isn't considered an "upgrade" so they refuse to let me up my internet speed. said i would have to cancel and start a new agreement.

catch: if you cancel you can't re-activate service for 3 months. MadMadMad
How much are you paying? I ask cause TWC is charging me 40 bones for 20 down 2 up

i have an old "surf and watch" package with one DVR and it's like $140/mo for digital tv and 3mpbs

current package on their site:
Digital TV & Turbo
$ 104.99/ Mo
for 12 Mo

after DVR box it's like $120 + taxes and fees that should add up to around the same.

Just activate it under someone else name then transfer it back to yours. Wink

I bought my SB6141 (brown box, black version) from an ebayer who auto-accepted my best offer of $70. Then you get to pick your own router.

Don't buy this modem package! Just buy the modem itself. You can always find this modem on sale with coupon discounts at Staples. The router packaged with this deal is garbage. I have had a Linksys E4200 for a little over 2 years. Love this baby! I even use the USB port to share files and use it as a media server too. Never had to reboot. This was the flagship for Linksys. Their new flagship aren't getting good reviews. Although it support the new Wireless AC network. Just not ready to plunge into that yet. Let them work out all the bugs.

Careful buying used modems, often times they're owned by the cable company and while they will activate the modem for you, the system identifies it as a rental modem and you'll be charged rental on it.

eBays a great place to go, just buyer beware - always verify the MAC w/ the cable company before buying.

Only buy DOCSIS 3.0 modems! DOCSIS 2.0 modems will be phased out in the next year and a half. Already most MSOs are beginning to expand channel bonding (the big change that was introduced in DOCSIS 3.0).

I was able to get the SB6141 modem at Best Buy for $50 with their coupon snafu.

It has consistently given us the 30/5 service we pay for on TWC since I installed it.

I second the point of verification of the MAC before purchase. As a former cableco zombie I know first hand that cablecos will refuse to activate a used modem if it is still linked to an account. They also refuse to release it if there is a past due balance. So if someone refuses to pay their bill and then sells their modem, the modem is useless (for that company).

That link is not to a used modem. They're new in brown box non-retail packaging.

I have basic Time Warner roadrunner. Can anyone tell me what the better deal would be for me? I think I'm mainly concerned with the quality of the modem. The package in this thread would cost about $23 more. Is it worth it to spend a little more? Thanks for any help.
I don't necessarily agree with the others if your intent is to stay with Basic Service. Yes Docsis 3.0 is better then 2.0 but if you don't plan on switching service or selling your modem any time soon take the savings up front and just buy a refurbished or used Cable Modem for $20-30 off amazon or ebay. They come up all the time.

All that said, the router/ap in this deal is less then stellar. D-Link router DIR-657 has less then stellar reviews and from what I can see doesn't support Tomato/DD-WRT/Gargoyle(openWRT).

I'm passing on this deal and your needs sound similar to mine.

I just got the SB 6121, is it worth returning the SB6121 and going with the SB6141?

2x faster modem with 8 downstreams VS 4 Downstreams SB6120 has.

Link posted is not used its Brand New. And If you have Economy internet you don't need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
