Seems to be some confusion in the thread, Monoprice sells two different 5.1 home theater speaker sets. The $84.10 one is product ID 8247. The one mentioned in this thread is product ID 9774.
Product ID 9774 is VERY similar to the Energy Take Classic 5.1, it's even been mentioned that the documentation says "CONNECTING YOUR ENERGY SUBWOOFER".

Excellent deal....highly reviewed speakers.....From what I can tell they are pretty much the same as the Energy Classic 5.1's

code invalid for me as well, said I had to login so it could check if code was valid. Created an account, logged in, and it was denied. So I'm guessing it might be only for those whom already had an account.
