Monoprice has their MEP-839 DJ Style Over-The-Ear Headphones w/ Detachable Cable for $18.88 - 20% with coupon code incentive = $16.70. Shipping starts at $6.90 and may vary between zip codes and increases slightly for each additional pair. Thanks Buckeyefan 1 & others
Note, you must be signed-in for the coupon to work. If it still does not, you can use coupon code CATALOG12 for 12% off (one time use). Last edited by skedaddle; 02-06-2013 at 04:07 PM.. Reason: updated image |

Have a pair of 8323s and LOVE them. They are literally the same as these kicker hp541s (just debranded):
http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-HP54...B002VWJY except they are about a quarter of the price. Great deal, I highly recommend these. |

Isn't this the regular price on these?

Got these several months back for about the same price. The sound quality is really, really good, but they are pretty uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time (I use them at my desk at work all day long).
So, you sacrifice comfort for great sound. For $20, though, they probably can't be beat. I have seen a handful of user mods for increasing the comfort, like replacing the stock ear cups with foam ones and the padding under the headband. FWIW. |

I hear great things about the comfort of the Sennheiser HD428, and the refurbs on ebay are still less than $30.... How bad are these Monoprice in terms of comfort, reviews make them seem pretty uncomfortable. I'd rather not spend extra on modding them. Also I have small ears... if that makes any difference. I will do some research on these two when I get home, just don't have the time right now.

It all depends on what you'll be using these for... I haven't heard the Monoprice cans, but am familiar with headphones that are a notch or two up from the HD428's in terms of sound quality.
However, if you want to listen to something for hours and hours at a time, the HD428's are hard to beat ... for any (reasonable) price. Nicer headphones tend to weigh more than the HD428's, and that factors into comfort for long sessions... we recently needed to get another set of cans so that people in the house can practice the digital piano without disturbing everyone else... we went with another pair of the HD428's for the pure comfort factor, combined with above-average sound quality. |
