It's more than a few cents. It's closer to $4-$5 difference.

If you change a battery once it's dead, I don't think it will leak. I did have a neglected watch battery leak once and either it's such a slow leak, or the cells are so small that there isn't much to leak out, so it did nothing to the watch. After removing the cell, I don't think you could even tell buy looking at the watch that the cell had leaked.

It was kind of a rhetorical question. A lot of people still use ebay. Many SD'ers still mention it a lot. I still use ebay quite a bit and am able to get some really good deals. In one way it's better with fewer people now because the bidding wars aren't as bad (though they are still there) as they used to be. On the other hand it's not quite as good because there's a bit less for sale now as there was at the peak. Still quite a bit though. Many companies still use it to sell cheaper than their websites; like the $90 16B Nook Tablet Barnes n Noble sold through ebay for a day back in December. I'm glad it's still around and hope it stays.

Yes I have heard about paypal problems but I guess I've been lucky over the 14-15 years I've been using it. FYI, I think you can google anything "sucks" and get results.

Case presses for snap-on backs are expensive.

I use a C- clamp to close the case back. Make sure there's sturdy backing to protect the front and back of the watch (I use wood + felt) and to ensure that it's the clamp's end that's turning smoothly (when you twist it) and not the watch. Turn the clamp until it's snug. The last few degrees of turn you make should be done very slowly, stopping as soon as you hear that faint click that tells you the case snapped back.

I use a nail punch + hammer. The new hole is smaller but I get a very clean cut.

You are going to spend a buck or two on a bunch of cheap batteries on eBay. You can get Maxell or similar for two or three dollars. Maybe you get ten instead of twenty batteries, but it is only a dollar or two difference and more batteries than you need regardless.

It is your choice to use junk batteries and risk your watch. I do not, and it is information people should have to consider when doing something like this.

Considering the price ($.01 to $1), I've had pretty good luck with ebay batteries. I've also bought some in the store that didn't last.

You use the one tool with a black handle. Popping it back in is the hard part. I broke my glass doing that. I am going to take it to the jewelry store for future battery changes for the pop-offs

What brand is it?
I used the tool to get the back off of a Fossil watch, replaced with my own battery, then took it to the Fossil store in the mall and they snapped it back on for me for free.

You might be able to do the same with any brand if you take it to where you bought it.

It was a promotional Reebok watch - does not show on their site now. Once the kit comes in, I will look at the black-handled tool as mentioned in the earlier reply, but for now I am not sure what tool will work since I don't see any notches, slots, or screws on the back.

There might not be any notches, which is why that knife tool is pretty sharp. You just put it in between the two watch halves and twist it apart. That's one of the only tools in this kit that works well.

Does anyone know how long do they take to ship these ones?
