I guess this is pretty standard, just like Petland Discount and Petco when they had $1/gallon last month.

Petco usually have: 10, 20L, 29, 40 Breeder and 55.

Petland Discount usually have 10, 15, 20H, 29, 55

You can check the dimension here:
http://www.fintastic.us/standard-...ize-chart/

I would suggest a 10 gallon for a betta tank, a 29 for a beginner community tank or a 40, 55 if you have room.

Thanks,

I didn't know Petland had these $1/G sales in the past.

Anyway, those sizes are meh. The 20L and 40B from PetCo is where its at.

email said 10, 20, 29, and 55 gallon. don't know about type but my guess is glass, thinking of heading out tomorrow to get some fish, will take a look and update on the tanks.

And you need the store loyalty card to get the deal, and if you do have one don't forget to go online and register your pets birthdays, have my dog and our fish on there, you can do up to three, and you will get a coupon for a free toy each time a birthday rolls around, i think they are up to $5.99 iirc. They let you use it on anything but food and animals, and last time i used one i had to return the item and they actually gave me back the full amount so you don't lose the coupon value if you do have to return something. I personally like pet supplies plus over petco, they usually have better prices on things.

I was at my local store last week and the sale was on glass aquariums. Not a bad deal if you missed it at Petco. I can confirm seeing 10, 20L, and 55 tanks. There may have been 40B and 29 but I am not sure.

I didn't realize Pet Supplies Plus was a big company. I randomly stopped by one a couple days ago and picked up a 55gallon for 55+tax in Austin. Thought it was a small corner pet store but I guess not.

Aquarium was Aqueon Glass.

Three different PSP I've visited in the past week - one was not participating in the sale, one had 10, 20H and 29 in stock, and one more had 10, 20L, 29, and 55 in stock. It's hit and miss from week to week which are in stock. Not all stores participate.

yeah, they are franchise stores, so some won't participate in the sales.

I went today and most of the fish that were $2-3 normally were the ones that were on sale for $1. Non that i wanted were on sale so i ended up getting nothing. Was looking for some catfish but they only had one that was $10. And only those sizes I mentioned earlier were on sale for tanks, would have gotten the 2.5 gallon one as a hospital tank but that was at its normal $12. The one I went to had a display in front of the fish section with the tanks that were on sale.

As far as the fish, the ones around me tend to get IDs of fish wrong and/or sell cheaper than expected, plus they have a lot of contaminants (not in a bad way) of fish that don't match the label type, e.g. the label says "clown loaches" but they really have clowns, yoyos, horseface, sumo, etc.

If they're in the wrong tank they will usually sell the fish for the price of one of the labels on the tank vs. the label it most closely matches. Just saying youc an get some good deals if you watch for these things.

On the other hand, I wouldn't give them grief if you don't get a good deal This is jsust a side perk of both the people working there not always knowing what they have and/or things being on sale even though they are not marked as on sale.

For those who bought an aquarium from them during the $1 a gallon sale, what brand is the aquarium? Do they have them in oak color?

I was able to pick up a 29 gallon in oak trim (last one too!) to match my 29 gallon oak stand that I already had previously, at my local store over the weekend. Initially, the sales associate wasn't sure if the oak version was included in the $1/gallon sale since all their tanks were black trim ones and they had an issue getting it to ring up on the sale price, but in the end, it all worked out. The aquariums are made by Aqueon, which bought out the All Glass Aquarium company.
