eBay: 50% off Final Value Fees on EVERY item sold using Global Shipping Program through 3/31/2013 - YMMV

What if I'm shipping in the US? Does this still apply?

Invitation only. I did not get an invite. I am a Powerseller, and looked at this program, but decided against.
I might reconsider if offered this deal.

i think you are always shipping it within the US and eBay will take your shipment and ship it out internationally. no need to fill the forms and stuff. the buyer needs to be from a foreign country.

the countries available are quite limited though, only a handful are included. I've used it and it worked out fine. The buyer winds up paying a huge amount for the dual shipment service and they take the customs charges even if not actually charged. It's better to do these things yourself and keep the money if you're a large powerseller, but for regular individuals who aren't equipped or familiar with the proper way to handle all the international business, this is usually a worthwhile check mark to include in your listings and get more exposure

hmmm.... for buy it now purchases the FVF is normally about 6 percent for me....

everything i sale over 50 bucks i divide%8.5 percent (included paypal fees) and then subtract for shipping as well

if its under 50 bucks then i divide by 10.5 percent...


as a seller you have to decide iff its worth the hassle for you to ship overseas..... For me... it just isnt worth taking 3 percent off of the 6... but it may be for you.

correct, i sold some stupid belt on a personal account and some weirdo in the UK paid like $120 for the service (so it's unusual that no one in the US would want it for $120 less) but the dude seemed very pleased with the service and whole deal

I'm a Powerseller as well and I have been using the program to try it out. So far the shipping costs for my buyers haven't been much different that what I could do myself (especially with the increased prices recently). The tracking has been much better - I was shipping Priority Mail Internationally when I was doing it myself and the tracking was very inconsistent. The delivery times have also been very quick. I have had more than one buyer comment on how speedy it was and that was not the norm for them.

ETA: the way it works is that as far as the seller is concerned, it is as if the buyer is domestic. I print a label to go to the international shipping center, which so far they have all gone to Kentucky, and then they handle everything else from there. One benefit to the buyer is that all of their charges (shipping and any import fees) are paid up front so there is no question to them what their total will be.

I also did not receive an invite to this promo apparently (probably because I'm already using it), but I would love if they would send me one!

it's called subtraction, not division, "teacher" furthermore, I think you're missing the point of the program, because it pretty much takes all the hassle out of international shipping. However, international Paypal payments get charged 1% more.

So do they use your packaging or do they repackage it?
I just want to know who is responsible if something goes missing or gets broken.

I'm really excited for this program and wish I would have this offer. I do about 20% of my sales over seas and never had a problem, but this seems so much better on tracking. I wonder if eBay set up something with customs so that everything that goes through this facility has it's own customs department to make things go smoother and no delay?

Who do you use to ship it international?? USPS doesn't do tracking international. I had bad experience with USPS international... Does UPS track international all the way to the buyer door step?

The point of this service is 3 things: #1: Tracking is working 1000% better and Shipping times have been cut DRASTICALLY from what I've read everywhere.

#2: The buyer can't leave less than 5 stars on Shipping Cost or Shipping Time if you shipped within stated amount of business days.

#3: Buyer knows what they are paying up front and there is NO SURPRISE Duty Tax fee when they receive the item.

It has nothing to do with you doing the shipping yourself, it's just an extra safety step, as well as helps against scam artists overseas who also know when the tracking is right and can say they never received it(some countries can't be shipped online either and that has cost me hours in line at the post office).

This is actually a FALSE statement. USPS does track all packages EXCEPT First Class Mail(recently added flat rate packages to the list of items that are going to be tracked the whole way). My items have always been tracked perfect to their destination unless lost and insurance covered those items.

Other thing is if you ship UPS, you have to worry about the buyer being charged a huge Duty fee. That is something 95% of the time you don't ever have to worry about with the USPS. I think in over 500 packages I've shipped internationally, only 5 have been charged. UPS is like 90% get charged a duty fee.
