240GB Corsair Neutron Series GTX 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive SSD (CSSD-N240GBGTXB-BK) $190 + Free Shipping

I remember the Corsair Force GS went on sale for I think $150 or $160 shipped from the egg not long ago....that got alot of hits and people thought it was a great deal. How about this drive? I know its suppose to be higher tier, but it cost about $30-$40 more

Just curious if anyone who knows about SSD can answer this question for me. I bought the 840 256GB Pro and installed my Windows 7 and a couple of games in the past 3 days. I used HD Sentinel and the health is already down to 99% with only 200GB of write history. Is it normal for my SSD health to drop like that in that short period of time and with so little data written on it? I need to know so I can exchange it with Newegg for a new one before it is too late. Thanks in advance.

99% is normal and I wouldnt worry. If you are paranoid like me you could move your temp folder as well as a few others to another drive to minimize writes. Google SSD optimization and you'll find a bunch of helpful articles.

I have a favorite guide that I use but the link is on my home computer. I'll post it later if no one beast me to it.

Thanks and repped. I already know how to do that as well as other optimization methods. I am not too concerned about writing on my SSD as I also have a 2nd HDD drive. I just wanted to know if I had a defective SSD that's all.

I pulled the trigger but some of the comments made me having 2nd thoughts.

Doesn't sound hoore-ish, it sounds like you have a very dedicated and exclusive relationship with Corsair. However, I hate to break it to you, but I think Corsair is servicing other customers.

It gets worse...I have even heard that Corsair is doing it for the money!

But hey, at least with this deal you're getting a discount.

Yes, it is true of all drives. But in the Anandtech review I linked earlier it shows that at 192GB (same capacity filled for both Neutron GTX and 840 pro) the Neutron GTX does much better. Though at 192GB the vector does even better.

For the full tests, it would have been more interesting if they had chosen to fill the drives to the same 240GB level.
