I'm more concerned with getting a backup power /usb cable. Has anyone had any luck finding those yet? |

The extra cable sucks.. but my Wife absolutely loves her Vivotab.
She uses it a lot for office. I mapped the photos folder to her microsd card (32gb) so she has all our vacation and baby's photos with her all the time. I also mapped the synology drive for movies and music to her tablet. Then she copied down her favorites onto another 32gb card that I just swapped into her keyboard. This keyboard usb port is a life saver. I installed this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820235061 The old microsd card (from my old cell phone 32gb) went right into the PLUG part. You remove the cover and it sits almost completely inside the usb port. It's a pain to remove - you basically use your fingernails. OR you can use it with the cap still on so you can remove easier. Its the same size as the logitech nano receiver. For 96gb and 15hours of battery with MS Office there was nothing close for her. I could have gotten an ultrabook (ASUS) with touch for $499 but the problem was the battery life wouldn't last her a day at work/on the road or airplanes. This is a great media consumption device because of it's ease of expansion and ultra long battery life. (It's a legit 14 hours on movies because we watched 3 movies on a 12 hour flight is it still had plenty of juice left) For $400 you can get a 96gb tablet. What other tablet can be 96gb, (81 usable), 15hours of battery and run office? Last huge bonus - the browser runs everything you throw at it. I haven't found a site yet that gave me error or flash required etc. It runs full desktop sites - not mobile versions which is great. My Nexus 7 constantly gets "Flash required" and I'm not in the mood to root it so I just pick up her tablet. Yes RT is lacking apps but there are plenty on there for her to stay occupied. It's much better than the playbook app store is. Last edited by Graphikzking; 02-13-2013 at 07:24 AM.. |

How does the OS scale down? It works great on the tablet/netbook combination but how is it on the phone? I wasn't sure if I'd like it and carriers requiring a 2 year commitment makes it tough to hop on board. If MS does a "Microsoft Nexus" type of thing for $299 for a really nice phone then I'd probably take a chance. I think Windows 8 sucks without touchscreen to be honest. I couldn't imagine using a Windows 8 laptop without it now that I've used hers. 15 hours battery life - untouchable - and no external battery pack/cables required. BTW - most people don't know - I leave the keyboard plugged in to charge when she has the tablet in her hands and I can plug my nexus 7 up to the keyboard and charge it through the usb. Also, my nexus 7 hooks up to her tablet and I can transfer files through USB mass storage to the nexus tablet. NO CLUE how to use NFC on these things though. Any ideas? Google was ZERO help. ![]() Do you have another NFC enabled device like a smartphone? If you do, you can tap two together to share photos, contacts, links, and such. It's a neat feature to have around. You don't have to mess with emails or cloud storage to get something from your friend at a coffee shop, for example. For unlocked, no contract WP8 phone, you might want to check out Lumia 620 . Only $280. It's not a high end but great little phone. See Engadget for recent review. Very highly rated. But for 100 more, you can probably pick up a Lumia 920 (locked to AT&T) off ebay or craigslist. Many people consider it the best phone out there. GL. |

I guess I'll give it another try tonight. |
