is this [ebay.com] one for $45 and it comes with another one kinda like it? i'd check ebay before buying this deal...and even if this tool is as great as everyone says...i see them locally on my clist for $35 or so...

I don't know...my smartphone is kinda big with the otterbox on it Wink
this is the skeletool cx.
it hads a much higher quality steel 154cm vs 420hc steel.
the 154cm is a super steel.

I bought mine 1 year ago from Amazon for $35. It is of superb quality and a very nice tool. I'm not totally convinced that $55 is the price to pay...

Bah....

Same price on BuyDig [buydig.com] or eBay [ebay.com] (with BuyDig as the seller). I guess you can choose whichever retailer you prefer.

I'm not sure whether i should get this or splurge on the Charge TTIi, or both!

The set in your ebay link includes the non-CX version, and is $52.99 at Amazon.
Plus, "clist" can beat many prices on Slickdeals.

The non-CX version has been $35 before, but this thread is for the CX. Which one do you have?

Thanks!
based on Amazon, both of them weigh 5 oz, but this could be inaccurate.
I am just looking for a reason to pay the extra $15 between the two Smilie
I have both the stainless and the CX. I use mine every day in my field and can tell you that the CX just feels better. I've been using it for several years now and absolutely love it. My Leatherman SuperTool has been in my car console ever since (great for emergency car repairs but just a burden to carry around all day). You won't be disappointed with the CX! Thumbsup

...thought about it for a day, bought a spare today!!! If I ever have to send it in for warranty, I now have a back-up! Thanks OP!

I have the Charge TTi and the Style PS... I'm trying to justify getting the skeletool, but I'm not sure I need it.

Also, according to Leatherman's site both the Skeletool CX and non-CX have the same weight (5oz).. so really the upgrade is blade type (and darker look).
And the non-CX is half-serrated half-normal while the CX is just normal.

Not to say this is garbage, but I actually owned one of these for about 2 weeks. On the last time I used it, one of the sides of the pliers actually snapped off during use. I ended up swapping it out on a Buck Knives multitool. YMMV.

Doubtful.
Thank you for the constructive post.

Anyways,
These are very handy and quite durable, often use the blade to pry stuff and it takes bit of force to break em. Pliers are damn near indestructible, haven't really used screwdrivers on em much but seem just as strong as the rest of the unit.

I was tempted to pick one up but realized I got in on the $35 deal in Oct 2011 for the regular skeletool. I have 3 different types of leatherman and love them all compared to other brands.

I've got the CX. The carbon insert is pretty cool, although a bit gimmicky.

Wish you would have posted the deal. For $35 it would have been front page easily.

I paid $45 for the CX at walmart, and no one seemed to care about that deal. SD can be fickle.

How this is compared to the "Leatherman 830846 Skeletool Multitool"
http://www.amazon.com/Leatherman-...+skeletool
yeah save yourself the $16 and go with beach camera for $40 if you live in cali or some other states amazon will grill you on the tax making it kinda pointless to even buy. if you want this knife the link you provided works id go with that instead hands down.

I also have a bad experience with the pliers. Tried to bend a semi-thick copperwire and now the joint has play causing the jaws to misalign. Can we ship it to get it fixed?
Thinking of getting the Charge TTi now
