I've been a subscriber in the past but I prefer Smart Money or Kiplinger's Personal Finance to this publication. Social Media Connections: Facebook [facebook.com], Twitter [twitter.com], and Pinterest [pinterest.com] for sweepstakes liaisons.

Thanks so much, I also prefer Smart Money as a go to magazine I was sad when they quit publication, I had to have them tack the extra sub on to barrons. |

Barron's, WSJ, Harvard Business Review are more for *serious* business people, Forbes less so, and Money is the other end of the spectrum, as is Kiplinger's Personal Finance. Also, WSJ has a political bent: Conservative (vs. conservative - indicating a bit tamer, just as I tag people with liberal and Liberal, or with Investor's Business Daily, which is libertarian vs. Libertarian. (Dead giveaway for business libertarian: Cato Institute) Think of it like science: Scientific American is for a serious science person whereas Discover is made to be more accessible; see: Money and KPF. I wouldn't call them serious publications per se, but note that they cater to a different market. Much like Barron's is ideal for the individual who prefers a weekly summation of events and cannot expend the time to read through several WSJ papers during the week. It is really is a matter of preference and personal interest.
Someone is reported to have asked a concert violinist in New York's Carnegie Hall how she became so skilled. She said that it was by "planned neglect." She planned to neglect everything that was not related to her goal. For the individual who's seeking to cultivate business acumen and financial literacy, certain publications will be best suited for their goals. But that doesn't suggest that the other titles are not apropos and may be the appropriate starting point based upon the knowledge they've attained thus far.
