Deal Details

I spoke with Straight Talk tonight about switching and was told that they recently have decided that AT&T will no longer be offered. Anyone with a current AT&T SIM will continue to receive service but once SIMs are sold out, no more will be offered.

So as a heads up to people who love ST or net10, might want to buy another backup AT&T SIM while supplies last at walmart.

Retail price may be a hot deal as sold out = gone for good.

Rep did not tell me why they were doing this but the straightalk website confirms it as you can now only order a T-mobile SIM.

I recieved my online order. The SIM card or anywhere in the packet does not say AT&T as a carrier. Is there a way to find out if I got the right card because it may be few weeks before I activate it?
Look at your shipping invoice as mine says for At&t.

If you still need one the regular size ones on ebay are much cheaper and you can by a sim cutter and it will work. The micro sims are going for $30-$40. Wish I would of stocked up when they were $5 Frown

Hi

I ported my number to ST a few days back from AT&T. I've not seen any difference in service at all and actually feel pretty good about my decision to break my contract (8 months remaining). I'm hoping that I wouldn't have to pay ETF as many people reported but that is a different topic and we'll leave it here...

Now, my bill for this month was due on 02/23 as per the bill before I ported my number. I was signed up for auto-payment which I now cancelled. Any idea if I'll get my last bill before this date (02/23)? Or is it something that takes a few extra weeks since they have to factor in all the "Contract end" stuff?

I'm just trying to make sure so that they don't screw anything and make it seem that I missed a payment... It can be bad for credit you know....

Help appreciated. Thanks

Congrats on making the move. Making assumptions based on what you wrote and what others have shared before, you should get your next bill as scheduled (probably early March for you) as the bill cycles close on the same date regardless of when you port out. Do you know when you cycle began? That should be noted on your bill. If the bill is due 2/23, the cycle probably started around 2/1. If you ported after the cycle start date you may owe for service for the whole cycle or you might be able to get them to prorate you (YMMV). You won't know that until your next bill that will probably be due in March.

The ETF (if any) would be charged on the next billing cycle (due 3/23?) or the one after that. If they charge one that is. If they don't, remember you need to stay on that ST AT&T Sim for at least 8 months. I remember reading somewhere that someone did as you did but then later switched to the TM side of ST and they saw an ETF the next month. Since you owe it, then can bill you for it whenever they figure it out, if ever.

If you move or change your address, AT&T may mail the bill to your old one. It is safest to check your online account once a month for any activity, if they still allow you to login, or call their customer service with your account number.

The configuration tool did not work either. I guess Im going to have to call Straight Talk. I just hope this is a minor hiccup, and not a sign of bad things to come.

Cheap way to do the T-Mobile sim swap trick if you don't have a T-Mobile sim already is to get a Simple Mobile sim. http://www.ebay.com/itm/180984381...1438.l2649

Thanks for the reply mate... Yes, I'm hoping that things go smoothly. Unfortunately, AT&T does not let me login into my account anymore... The number porting only took like 2 minutes and immediately I wasn't allowed to login anymore...

The service rocks and I do not see any difference from what I had before... But I feel terrific because I can now text to anyone/everyone without worrying whereas I used to pay $70/month with ZERO text messages included.

Thanks again
Maxie

I can confirm this works but your phone will have to be unlocked if it's a iPhone 4 I did four of them this way and none would work using a sim swap until unlocked then it worked fine, but it's now easier. Jailbreak your phone, it takes 5 minutes and if you can push 2 buttons you can do it. www.evasi0n.com once done do this.

I have a strange issue, I had Tmobile-ST sim for a few month and then i bought an AT&T phone so I bought a second sim from ST this time an att-ST and called ST CSR to switch the service between the two sims and they did after hours of talking and 5 long calls (first 4 hours was spent in me trying to explain the reason of my call).

Big problem now "both sims work". First I thought its cool, I have two working phones specially i had my old tmobile phine with full 4G internet, but then i decided to turn that phone off for good, now about 1/3 of my calls go to the Tmobile-ST sim which I no longer use (the phone is off caller goes to VM which I cannot retrieve from the AT&T-ST sim based phone. Now I'm missing a lot of calls! People tell me they left me a message so I turn on the old phone and there are lots of voice messages. (no problem with text though) and this only happens with certain callers I think mainly Tmobile callers go to the Tmobile-ST sim.

ST CSR does not have early enough brains to even comprehend what the issue is, it took me literally 5-10 calls just to switch my service from first sim to second, never mind something technical like this.

Any advise?

Never mind! I just got a text from straight talk saying welcome. So it just took a while for the activation to go through. I am on my Internet now!

Great! I forgot to mention. Turn your phone off and then back on again after about an hour after having signed up. It will eventually go through like yours did but resetting the phone speeds it up.

Oh yeah. I had reset my phone quite a few times in the 48 hours between activation and finally Internet service. It is prolly because I ported a number. I got the calling and texting service within 10 minutes and assumed the web service should have come right along with it.
