Deal Details

I spoke with Straight Talk tonight about switching and was told that they recently have decided that AT&T will no longer be offered. Anyone with a current AT&T SIM will continue to receive service but once SIMs are sold out, no more will be offered.

So as a heads up to people who love ST or net10, might want to buy another backup AT&T SIM while supplies last at walmart.

Retail price may be a hot deal as sold out = gone for good.

Rep did not tell me why they were doing this but the straightalk website confirms it as you can now only order a T-mobile SIM.

Pretty sure that just means after you have applied it to an account you cant transfer it to another. I've sold over a hundred of them on ebay and nobody has ever complained.

Thanks for the reply mate... Yes, I'm hoping that things go smoothly. Unfortunately, AT&T does not let me login into my account anymore... The number porting only took like 2 minutes and immediately I wasn't allowed to login anymore...

The service rocks and I do not see any difference from what I had before... But I feel terrific because I can now text to anyone/everyone without worrying whereas I used to pay $70/month with ZERO text messages included.

Thanks again
Maxie

lol. Yeah I'm glad I'm able to ship to a Fedex copy center a couple miles from my work because picking stuff up at the store is always a headache.

Now we know why these (temporarily) disappeared. They're coming back, but Net10's AT&T sim plans will be hard capped at 1.5gb of data while T-Mobile sims will remain "unlimited". So, the SIM cards will be back on shelves soon but will no longer carry the "unlimited" branding. Even if you have one already, the switch to 1.5gb/month will take effect on March 1.

https://net10data.com/

For the time being, they're offering a free T-mobile compatible SIM for free if you want to switch to that from their AT&T plans.
Thanks for this info! I don't use a ton of data anyway, so I don't care about the cap. It will still be unlimited talk and text though correct? And I don't have to try and find a micro sim on the ebay market in case I ever upgrade to an iphone 4? I'm currently using an iphone 3gs and it's sufficient for now, but I worry about needing to upgrade one day in the future and not being able to find a new SIM card (assuming I couldn't cut down the one I have now?? I'm technically challenged! lol)

Well CRAP! I just cut the sim down to nano last night and was planning on doing the port today. THIS SUCKS. 2 GB was fine - about what we use, and I was happy that they were just slowing it down after that. But a hard 1.5GB is not cool at all. Now I'm not sure what to do. Tmobile only has 2G in my area and their coverage stinks. ARGGGGGGGGGHH!

Yeah, still unlimited calling & texting. Just the data is capped at 1.5gb. Still a pretty good deal IMO for non-heavy data users.

Clarification? If you already have your AT&T sim card ( I have a 3gs At&t phone) unlimited data becomes 1.5G? or is that just Net 10's or what?
Also if I get a 4g phone AT&T can I cut my sim card down?(might be smart to get a back up with my techno skills lol) TY in advance

While with Tmo (officially not w/ reseller) I received an official notice that they were eliminating 2G services and upgrading all areas to 3G/4G. The goal was to have that done by end of 2013, so with Tmo that might be 2014.

Unless you are streaming music/movies you could probably tweak a few settings and get pretty close to 1.5GB if you are less than 2GB now. Lots of sites online that discuss ways to limit bandwidth usage, such as setting up wifi at home, school, or work and allowing certain activities like viewing pics in email to only occur when connected to wifi.

So far Straight Talk has said nothing about the matter and there are still no AT&T sims on their site. People are just assuming if the sims come back to Straight Talk it will be the same deal as Net10 with the limits on data and they're probably right. And yes, you can cut down the sim and it will work in the iPhone 4 if you cut it right. Straight Talk has actually recommended it in some Facebook posts I read awhile ago. 1.5 GB is so borderline for most people. The norm seems to be 2.5 GB with other prepaid carries but AT&T are greedy pricks.
