is there a noticeable upgrade to this from a gtx 650? it's for a htpc and i want to do some moderate gaming at 1080p on a 50" plasma

It's noticeable, but at 1080p, this card won't handle a lot of the more intensive games even with medium settings. I'd look at a GTX 650 Ti or if your budget allows, a 7850.

i believe you are talking about the single fan non-oc version correct?

on the msi website site, they said it can be overclocked to ~34% better performance. any1 have the actual numbers for max oc?

Well my 5770 cant do any new games. I had to get a new card this week. If you need a card for gaming, get something better.

6870 > 7770 right?......@@ thinking to get one for my friend....not sure this one or 6870....

yeah i made a purchase, i didnt see the code till after i asked. this is a great deal.

ive been looking out for graphic cards and they cost too much, especially for the 7800's and up. this is the biggest bang for your buck graphic cards and its not bad. it can be crossfired and the room for overlock is big, this is OC edition plus dual fan for cooling. its way better than the 70$ AR one during black friday, since that was the previous edition.
