Virtual Credit Card

usually this service is offered by a company whose physical card you already own. they give you a virtual NUMBER that can typically only be used for one transaction and sometimes you can even set purchase limits.

What credit cards do you have?

I know almost all (or all) Bank of America cards have ShopSafe, which generates virtual credit cards for you to use at 1 merchant online. You can have as many virtual cards as you want going, but each number can only be used at its respective merchant.

I think Citi also offers virtual numbers.

Discover used to, I am not sure if they still do or not (I dont have a Discover card).

American Express also used to, but they no longer offer virtual numbers.

Another avenue is to buy a prepaid gift card. Often times you can get them for no fee (For example, AMEX prepaids with no fees if you are an AMEX holder). Then you can use the prepaid gift card online if you are worried about your credit card number being stolen.

Yes there is a link in the top menu system.

I've found it's not worth it to use virtual CC numbers. The CC company will fix any fraudulent charges, so use the card and check your statement a couple times a month. Just make sure it's a credit card and not a debit car. If the website is sketchy, use Paypal, or shop elsewhere
