If running on X-Raid2 - it'll be 2tb of storage and fully redudant, but if this NAS supports larger than 2tb disks, then u can upgrade/stick in a 3tb into the 2tb's slot... and volume can expand automatically
Raid 0 - 4tb of storage, no redudency - crash one harddrive, lose all data
Raid 1 - same as what x-raid2 will do. But if u put in new disks, it wont expand as easily as XRAID2, you'll need to back up data to separate location, then upgrade NAS disks 2 at a time, then reload the data.

TU. Great deal for a Home NAS with 2TB of mirrored storage and good speeds. Most people can go straight to X-Raid2 option for easy future upgrades. With X-Raid2, you don't have to worry about finding a compatible size drive in future, if one of the drives breaks.

I guess I don't know enough about this NAS box to really judge, but if I compare to what I use it is way too much!

I have a D-link DNS-320 NAS box which also features a 2 bay sata drive. Perhaps it is slower than the Netgear one in this deal. But it runs $109 regularly and I got it on sale at Newegg for $70. Has FTP, torrent, DynamicDNS update, Samba server, all the Raid options. It does have a max 4tb (with two 2tb drives).

I cant speak of the ReadyNAS unit. But I can tell you for $100 more on Amazon, I bought the $299 Synology DS213 and (2) WD 3TB Red drives priced at $149 a piece each. Considering this is a device I pretty much have planned to use every day for the next few years, I chose Synology because of their reputation, software and future OS support. I also chose the WD 3TB Red drives because I wanted the largest storage capacity drive.. that still had NAS friendly features.

That was 4 months ago. I've already filled up 70% of my storage capacity. And will probably be looking for a 4unit NAS and 2 more WD Red drives some time later this year.
