Groupon is great. Solid deals. You CAN use cashback sites with them. So, count on an additional __% back. I've never had problems with them. I have however had problems with some vendors and have contacted Groupon about my concerns and Groupon will readily refund your money! Excellent customer service via e-mail. I'm not doing a commercial, I've just happened to buy a lot from them.

If you hate the Jawbone or "pseudo" Jawbone and the company won't honor the return, then go straight to Groupon with your complaint ... problem solved.

Yeah, I had read all about it before I made the purchase. I would always make sure that the little nub was pressed against my cheek. I even bought a special rubber ear-bud that helps hold it in place. I know that lots of people love it and saw a great review with a hairdryer that was totally cancelled out. I just didn't have the same results. Maybe I have too much "padding" in my cheeks for it to work properly on me.

To those thinking about the Era vs. Icon

I have and use both daily. The Era is better with its auto volume control and I have absolutely no complaints about how I sound from others. Sometimes I get some complaints that I cut out or crackle from others with the Icon. I don't know if that is common with the Icon or mine has a minor issue. But it doesn't happen often. The added talk time and the insane amount of stand by battery time of the Era is great. But the Icon is incredibly small and stable in the ear. The Era is a bit bigger and doesn't look as good in the ear. It comes down to if you want 90% perfection, small and good looking or 100% perfection but a tad bigger and heavier and makes you look just a little sillier.

One thing I really wish bluetooth manufacturers would do is put in some sort of "paging" feature which allows you to find your headset if you misplace it. Obviously this would only work while the battery still has a charge, so it would be a useless feature if you only use your headset occasionally and the battery dies between uses. But I use mine on a daily basis, and there are times where I misplace it somewhere (dropped between the seats in my car, buried under papers at my desk, left in a jacket pocket, etc) and I would LOVE it if there were a feature that would allow me to make it ring or beep somehow to let me know where it is. I had a BT headset about 5 years ago that would actually ring through a small exterior speaker whenever my phone rang, so if I ever loft it I could just call my phone and listen for the ringing headset. It was great, and I don't see why they don't make that a standard feature on headsets.

This is the business model for BT manufacturers - you lose one, you buy another one.

I believe these are A2DP capable after a firmware update (?)

yeah right. i have not seen any good "deals" from groupon for at least a year. i still have $50+ sitting on my groupon credits that i did not see anything worth to buy.

can you tell us what exactly that you "buy a lot" from them?

i only see some local massages and dentist cleaning where you have to have a perfect teeth to have it cleaned. otherwise, by state law, you will have to treat your teeth first or do some deep cleaning which will cost you thousand of dollars before you can use their basic teeth cleaning.

Refurb doesn't even mean it was USED. People return stuff without even having touched the item a lot of the time. Stores do sendbacks, manufacturer has packaging changes, whatever the reason the BT ends up in the white box... it does have to pass all manufacturer standards. The earwax comment is just gross, give Jawbone a little more credit than that. And clean your effing ears, eh.

Pre-waxed, for your convenience

From the sounds of it, the Jawbone refurbs don't come with the extra tips... so if that is an issue for you, you may want to factor that into your decision... although you can get extras on ebay for cheap. The tips used to be just given away for free at retailers in the various sizes, hermetically sealed of course.

With my first Jabra (years ago), I just called them and they sent me new ones. Don't know if it's the same way these days.
