Lol, I actually brought my third part $4 lightning cable to Apple and told them it doesn't work, I never mentioned that it was third party or even if it was Apple's. I just walked up to an employee and said my cable is broke and they just swapped it out with a genuine one,
I tried to go back the next week and do it again, but they said they put in a new policy for all cable replacements to go through a Genius appointment.
