Some ppl are so greedy and don't understand that Apples cost is way more than $20 for a cable and by actually paying retail is a darn good deal. The only company that prices their cable right is Monster.
If by "prices their cable right" you mean "gouges the ignorant consumer for 10x what a comparable product costs," then yes - you hit the nail on the head re: Monster.
If that's not what you meant, then you, sir, are an idiot.
There are many $2 cables on eBay or amazon. They look identical with the genuine one that you buy from BM retailers. I bet some ppl might switch the cables and return to BM stores a 3rd party cable in a genuine box. Lol, I actually brought my third part $4 lightning cable to Apple and told them it doesn't work, I never mentioned that it was third party or even if it was Apple's. I just walked up to an employee and said my cable is broke and they just swapped it out with a genuine one,
I tried to go back the next week and do it again, but they said they put in a new policy for all cable replacements to go through a Genius appointment.
I will post a review when I receive mine, though they'll probably be out of stock before I receive it. Their email to me said they only had 1700 in stock originally. I've never had a problem with any cable purchased from Monoprice. They are typically of very high quality. Their iPhone 30 pin SlimFit cables are the best I've found. They are only a couple bucks.
Doesn't say whether it will pass audio like the Apple cable does. That, I have found, has been consistant with all 3rd party lightning cables. They charge and synch, but I can't use them with my home or car audio (stream Pandora, etc.). I chatted with a Monoprice rep and he didn't know if it does or not. They are looking into it and supposed to get back to me via email. I'll post their answer.
Email reply from Monoprice customer service: "Thank you for contacting Monoprice. In regards to your inquiry, unfortunatey at this time our lightning cables only support charge and sync ability. Truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you"
So, they are not 'exactly' like the Apple brand 8 pin cable. Too bad.
