I've been looking into leasing a 2013 Leaf S for a week or so now and I just wanted to let people know about some of the interesting items I found about it. First, the S version does not have (and can not have) cruise control. I drive the highway a lot and this would be a huge pain for me. Secondly, it does not have and can not have CARWINGS. This isn't too big of a deal, but connecting to your car from your phone is one of the neat things about the Leaf I liked. The S also does not have B Mode Regen braking, a hybrid heater or a nav system. None of these things are really all that important, but I'm just shocked that a $28,000 car does not have cruise control as standard. Did that really save them that much money? I'd much rather have cruise control then heated outside mirrors (Which come standard)
Also has anyone been able to get a Leaf Lease deal (2012 or 2013) in Florida? The dealers around here (Tampa) seem very unwilling to negotiate. You combine that with the fact that just about every Florida dealer charges a "Doc Fee" of at least $499 (can be $799+)and it just about kills any 24 month lease deal you can get. Lastly, on the argument of an electric car being practical, I agree and disagree. Yes, an electric car (at least the Leaf) can not be your only car if you live anywhere but a big city. Nissan does offer rental cars for longer trips, but that is a pain in the butt. However, as a second car that is only used as a commuter car I think it's a great idea. I live in an area where electric is relatively cheap (most expensive is .11/kWh) and the leases out there make it cheaper for me to lease a Leaf then to continue driving my SUV which is paid for but only gets 15-16 mpg. I also have a 10kw solar panel system which powers almost my whole house (2840 sq ft) which make the electric car an even better investment. 2012 Slick Deals

Went to the dealer this afternoon what a farking waste. Rude and uninterested people working there. Aside from not have any 2013 on hand they had no information on them. I got the leaf " expert" sales person and they were a joke. I knew about as much as she did. They were totally unaware of the national $199 lease program. Took about 35 mins for them to work up a quote for me with $0 down. And when they came back they said that the monthly pmt with $0 down was going to be $350 at first. After much arguing an questioning her manager came up. I told him no way these are right figures. After about 30 minutes arguing with him I left still no convinced his figure of $315 a month is right.

The $7,500 federal tax credit is very discriminatory. I'm 59 retired with very little taxable income in fact I will pay $0 in Federal tax for 2012.
They way I understand this, I would receive $0 in federal tax credit if I purchased this car? Correct? Last edited by Firebird72; 02-20-2013 at 09:48 AM.. |

Everywhere I look, I only see reference to a 24kW/h battery. Thanks. |

Averages statewide don't function well due to the differences in climate. Half the people in the state live in areas that need little a/c. Half live in places where its 95+ for 3-4 months of the year. |

Essentially I'd be saving at least $50 a month in gas, making this car around $150 a month versus a gas car, with the first year being FREE. (Not to mention MUCH lower maintenance on this brand new EV) I guess what I'm asking is, what kind of gas car can I find for $100 a month?
