Gas car goes 400 mi. a tank full. 400 / 25 * $4 = $64 for 400mi.

75 mile range... That is pathetic! My daily commute to from work is 110 miles.

My old commute was about that far Smilie so same issues there. Now, the hubby works 5 hours away so when we go up to visit the trip would take an entire day stopping to recharge this thing 4 times...shake head NO THANKS!!!

The Leaf's major problem for our SoCal commuters is, we cannot drive one round trip between OC and LA without recharging.

Consider the overall cost of ownership. Not just saving on gas, environment, clean air, but also maintenance costs.
^I agree on the first three points, but I don't see how maintenance costs are going to be cheaper. If anything, they would be more expensive due to nonstandard lower production parts

Comparing cost to own on two different websites lol, yea I trust nada more..
They say the 2013 leaf will cost nearly $30,000/5yrs at 15,000miles a year which is what they say for a Ford Fiesta SE with a 1.6l, so I'm pretty sure the 1.0 ecoboost (that gets 38mpg average) will cost less making it better than the leaf at around $18,130, Fiesta SE w/1.6 starts at around $16,500 or 15,500 base..
Should I mention which is made in the US?
The 1.0 ecoboost motor is made in Germany, like VWs turbo diesel.
As soon as electric can travel further than 300miles I'll look at it, but I'll never pay $30,000+$1250 for a charger built into the car and "up to" $7500 back on your taxes of course.
Still love how the epa mpgs on these cars exceed the range you can drive lol.
