Resolved: Can't access certain URLs in threads

For the past year or so I have encountered many deals where I can't use the links provided. I get routed to URLs that are blank pages. I'd say it happens about 25% of the time. The URLs vary, but I will provide an example in this letter. I thought it might be my Kaspersky, but I just changed security suites and the situation still exists. It prevents me from taking advantage of many deals. It mostly only happens when using the SD site. I'm hoping you have suggestions, and couldn't find any reference to it in the forums.

Example: when clicking the link in this post: http://slickdeals.net/f/5844022-T...89-99-w-FS

instead of taking me to tigerdirect's sales page, it takes me to this URL:
http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-b...DT555-2417

Just so you know, whenever the URL is written out in full(which is the exception), I do copy and paste it into my browser and that works.

There are a few other bogus URLs that I'm taken to depending upon the link provided. Can you help? Is this a common problem?

It sounds like some of the redirect links are blocked on your computer. Make sure that none of the domains listed here are blocked.

Thanks. I do use an ad blocker, called AdFender, and it does seem to block many of the URLs on that list, according to the program. I looked through its settings and can't see any way to unblock them, so I wrote to the makers of the software and am waiting for their reply. Next time I am blocked like that, I intend to turn off AdFender and try the link again to see if that works.

But it begs the questions: 1) why are some links on slickdeals redirected? I recognize a few of those addresses as adware, like doubleclick.net

and depending on your answer, 2) why are many links not redirected?

Pretty much all of the links on SD are redirected. It's how they make money and keep the site running.

I imagine the other domains are not blocked by your ad blocker.

I guess I thought that the ads on the home page (ie. goggles4U) helped support the site

I just heard back from the program owners. They said that whitelisting those sites would defeat the purpose of the program, however they are working on a new version that will allow more flexibility in this matter and suggested I turn off the program while using this site in the meantime. I just tried that and it did solve the problem. Wish I'd realized this sooner as I have skipped many deals in which I was potentially interested because I couldn't access the store.
