Just not my thing in terms of usage and functionality for a 10 lumen light, unless tiny dim lights are your thing. Might be good if you need to examine someone's pupils. Here's an informative in-depth review for you flashlight geeks. http://budgetlightforum.com/node/4317 |

I thought I'd consider your remarks;
I like my Fenix and wondered how it stacked up. The ThruNite Ti is comparable in size, seems not as bright at near-field but is clearly brighter than the Fenix at five feet. Yup; the Sipik 68 smokes them both, but... it's just not in the same class. I beat Selma to the punch, TWICE!

The Sipik is a toy. It may be a bright toy, but they aren't terribly reliable, they aren't waterproof in the least, and when zoomed for maximum throw "artifacts" doesn't begin to describe the beam problems, it projects a perfect image of the LED die... and it's three times the size and maybe four times the weight of this light, not something you'd want to have on a keychain. When things start to get rough, when you REALLY need a light as opposed using one for fun or convenience, it's very often in lousy weather and lousy conditions. Same reason I wouldn't consider the much-more-expensive much-better-made but-still-not-at-all waterproof Leatherman/LED Lenser flashlights. I'll take reliability over performance any day. |

freeze it over night apply lubricant between battery and body wall bang it on a wooden table/block corkscrew attach light to cord/string/cable and swing it against a tree put a screw in the battery and pull it out use quality battery next time and do routine inspection |

nahhhh. eye protection and gloves would do. drilling would be the last resort (you want to push the screw in a little with your hand to get a feel before going crazy with the drill) freezing might shrink the battery a little. eneloop is always good. stay away from alkaline if you have a reputable brand battery in there now read up on their warranty for defective battery, it's a long shot though... good luck and stay safe |

I'm always amazed at the people at SD, a really remarkable combination of profound ignorance and massive attitude.
Flashlights are like wrenches or screwdrivers, you don't buy one for every possible job. Unless, you know, you're one of those people who owns one wrench and one screwdriver, then one flashlight may work for you. This is an awesome light for its low cost, extremely small size and long life. And you don't want more lumens if you're trying to preserve your night vision, and/or maximize life.
