Thread Details

Was looking for a reasonably priced table saw to do a little bit of work around my house. Sears.com has the following on sale for $116.99. I was able to stack SEARS2013 with a coupon I got e-mailed from ShopYourWayRewards for $15 off $50 on a purchase at either Sears or Kmart. Brought the price to $96.99 + tax.

Saw seems to have decent reviews. 4 stars out of 45 reviews.

Same saw as the Ryobi at HD.

If you plan on doing a couple projects or just a few cuts then storing it for the next few years before you put it on craigslist then it is worth it. I have seen several of these out there already along with all the other under $200 saws. I saw the Ryobi version at HD open box for $75 and only missing the push stick...I walked on by..

I've never really purchased anything from the brand except for the 3 gallon pancake compressor/brad nailer for $40. So far that has been okay, we'll see how the saw does. It isn't going to see much use.

What was your experience?

1) low grade plastics

2) too much of #1

3) due to #1 and #2, performance and accuracy of tool operations are severely affected

i had very bad experiences with some of the other Evolv power tool lines, hence why i strongly advise against this table saw. it might be good for very limited occasional use, but expect to run into some sort of breakage after just 1 or 2 renovation projects. if you are set on getting this saw, be sure to purchase the extended warranty as you will almost definitely be using it

Craftsman Evolv hand tools have an inferior warranty compared to regular Craftsman and Craftsman Professional/Industrial and require a copy of the sales receipt when making any warranty claims. In that respect they're worse than the warranty for Harbor Freight's Buffalo brand of hand tools.

I bought this not too long ago to do a small floor repair job I was getting quotes for in the $200 range(so for 15 minutes of my time, $10 in materials and $110 for this saw I did the job and got to keep the saw)...it is what it is, a $100 table saw.
For 3/4" heart pine it did a nice straight cut, but you will need to have your own protractor or other angle gauge as the one on the saw isn't worth using if need anything accurate...I found after I tightened the fence, it stayed true enough...the saw, because of all the plastic parts is quite light and portable, and the motor didn't lag at all on the material I have used so far...

very true, i totally forgot how i need to still have my receipt to get warranty service for evolv tools (which is ridiculous). you can't even read what's on receipts after a few years - they do that on purpose.

No SYWR coupons for me apparently. There is something about earning $5 for a $50 purchase in tools during the next few weeks though.

Edit: I don't think I ever saw it come up as $116.99 also. Shows as $124.99 for me.

News flash sales typically don't last more than 10 weeks. This thread was from February.
