I was out at Bed Bath & Beyond looking for this item and they didn't have it in stock. Saw it at $15 on Amazon's mobile app and now it's down to $12.51!

Lowest ever was apparently $12.35 on May 2010 according to the camelizer.

I'm not concerned about cutting oneself - that's what the finger guard is for (which is provided with the mandolin). What I AM concerned about is that this particular mandolin has a bumper at the back, making it difficult to cut anything over ~5 inches long. One of the 3 most helpful-marked reviews is a 1-star that mentions this and provides some other alternatives.

I was glad for that review, actually, because in the photos I didn't see that bumper - it IS there if you look closely at the third product photo, though! Definitely think carefully about your desired use for this before purchasing this particular model - if you want to slice long carrots or squash, it may not be adequate.
