Art as an investment?
Anyone here have experience with this? From what I've seen, art investment is kind of like real estate - good pieces will generally appreciate over time when the economy is strong, but they're subject to some serious fluctuations in down times.
I don't mind moderate to high risk but I have NO clue what to look for, where to buy, etc. I would like this to be a pretty long term thing - I'd like to spend maybe a few hundred to a couple thousand each on a handful of pieces that I can keep / display & then eventually hand down to my kids. I've been doing this with books and have done pretty well with those, but I like the idea of something a little nicer to look at than a bookshelf. This is not a primary investment for me - just a fun thing to do with some extra cash, but I'd like to get some return on it over time,
Anyone have any suggestions?
