Ok, so much misinformation in this thread.

This is the G5, not the GF5!! G5 is a vastly different camera to the GF5. Spec-wise, G5 uses the multi-aspect 16.06 mp sensor in the GH2, which was the flagship camera in Panny's lineup until GH3 came out a couple months ago. It also has a fully articulated 920k LCD screen and a 1.4mp EVF. This is in a different league from the super zooms, and spec wise vastly superior to consumer level M43 such as the E-PEN from Olympus, or the GF from Panny. I'd rate this slightly lower, spec wise, to OM-D and GH2&3, but pretty much higher than anything else in M43.

Compared to compact APS-C, then it really is subjective. Sony and Samsung both have great sensors, but lenses are lacking simply because M43 has bigger market share. You'll be paying a premium if you want the same level of lens in Sony as compare to M43, and personally I don't think you can notice any difference in image quality unless you are gee king and pixel-peep

You are taking my quote out of context. I'm not claiming the GF5 is about the same as the G5, but that the G5 has about the same IQ as the samsung APS-C referenced earlier. This is off the top of my head but the DXO score (which means nothing) is like 50 for the GF5, 60 for the G5 and 61 for the samsung.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I thought you were just continuing the maddening comparisons/confusion between the G5 and GF5 that others have been propagating in this thread.

Have had some bad luck with items from amazon that were temporarily out of stock never ending up shipping, hopefully that doesn't happen here!

Have been holding out for a k-5 iis deal (apples/oranges I know) but this and a fast prime might be a good holdover. Any recommendations for a wider prime with good bokeh? New to 4/3 and basically only ever use 35mm lens on my crop.

Just found the DMC-FZ200 on sale at J&R for $419.00. I'll be moving up from a simple point and shoot so the FZ200 seems more my speed.
